A to Z Guide to Lyme Detox

26 ways to detox your body!

If you are in treatment for Lyme disease, you probably know how important it is to detoxify. When antibiotics or antimicrobials kill off the bacteria from the Lyme or coinfections it needs to be cleansed from the body. The liver and kidneys take care of a lot of it, but they need a helping hand. Here is an A to Z guide of 26 ways to aid in detoxification.

Detox A – Z

Alka-Seltzer Gold – helps ease herxheimer reactions and keeps the body alkaline.

Bentonite Clay – binds to toxins and pulls them out of the body.

Coffee enemas – detoxifies the liver and large intestine.

Dry brushing – stimulates the lymphatic system and increases circulation.

Epsom salt baths – provides magnesium, which is a vital nutrient for the detoxification process.

Filtered water – helps the kidneys flush toxins out of the body.

Glutathione – a powerful antioxidant that neutralizes free radicals and boosts the immune system.

Himalayan salt lamp– purifies the air in your home.

Infrared sauna – improves circulation and rids the body of toxins through sweating.

Juicing – provides essential nutrients needed to flush out toxins.

K vitamin – keeps arteries free of calcium buildup.

Lymph drainage massage – soft repetitive touch helps circulate and remove lymph.

Meditation – deep breathing detoxifies the lungs and calms the sympathetic nervous system to allow the body to heal.

N-Acetyl Cysteine – a precursor to glutathione, the “master antioxidant.”

Ozone – oxidizes toxins so the liver and kidneys can remove them from the body.

Positive thinking – maintains flow in the body, unlike negative thoughts which are heavy and bog you down!

Quercetin – a flavonoid with strong anti-inflammatory properties.

Rife machine – a machine that uses electronic frequencies to support the detoxification organs.

Sleep – allows the brain to drain itself of toxins, similar to how the lymph drains the rest of the body of toxins when you move.

Tea – rich with antioxidants and flavonoids which help detoxify the body.

UV IV therapy – runs blood through an ultraviolet light to cleanse it of bacteria, viruses, and toxins.

Vegetables – nature’s medicine contains nutrients to keep the body free of toxins.

Walking – improves circulation and improves lymph flow.

Xylitol – sugar substitute which starves bad toxin-releasing bacteria.

Yoga – improves digestion, lymph flow, and squeezes stagnant toxins from muscles and organs.

Zero sugar – starves sugar-loving toxic bacteria.

Talk to your doctor before starting detox. Some methods cause Herxheimer reactions. Not all detox strategies are for everyone. You won’t see me near a coffee enema any time soon, but lymphatic drainage massage has been very helpful. Try a few until you find the best fit your body’s needs and your lifestyle.

  1. Cool way to present a list of options – my go-to is always Epsom but among my Lyme friends everyone has a different method that always works for them. The important thing is to keep it up!
