Sometimes You Should Re-think Lyme Treatments
Chronic illness is hard. They’re debilitating conditions and we are desperate for relief. It is easy to get caught up in the, “This could be the treatment! This could be the one that finally gets me better!” or the, “I hope this is not another waste of money.”
Another issue is that a lot of people, myself included, have had to turn to alternative health because the western medicine route hasn’t worked for us. This means out-of-pocket expenses and what this means for many is having to choose between options or for-go treatments that might help due to cost.
Why Do We Hope that The Next Treatment Could Be “The One”?
When we go through these things, we are missing out on life. We lose precious opportunities that can’t be restored to us, or at least not like it would have been if we’d had the opportunity when our peers did.
The grief of missed experiences can be tremendous. We’re desperate for a normal life. Our quality of life is poor, and we want it improved, but desperation can be a dangerous thing.
This Creates a Pattern
I’ll admit, I’ve gotten caught in the trap before of thinking, “Oh, maybe this next supplement will be the one to finally get me on my feet!” You read all the testimonials about the product and think, “Wow! This’ll be great!” It turns out not to be great. You’ve just spent all this money and it’s done nothing. And then you think, “What a waste of money! That’s done nothing for me!”
Then you find another product. “Hmm, maybe this will be the one.” You try it out. Yet again, it does nothing for you, and you feel like you’ve wasted money that could have gone elsewhere to things you need or more effective things to treat your disease.
Finally, after going through this so long, your attitude changes. You find another product, “Okay, I know I need to do something. Let’s just hope this isn’t another waste of money.” And then it is. You’re always hopeful that this might be it, but you also know from personal experience that you’ve been this route before, you’ve hoped and your hopes have been let down. And so, you’re caught in a vicious cycle.
Learning to Look at Treatments from a Different Perspective
Instead of thinking of the next thing that comes our way as a hopeful cure to what we’re going through, we should approach it through the lens of learning more about the body. It may be that simply researching what to take, how to diet, may not be enough.
There are some things that can only be learned by doing. Maybe, it’s time to take it to the next level. Maybe it’s time to learn to be your own healer.
Learning to Be a Healer
If you’re in natural health, it will come as no surprise to you that that there is a sheer number of modalities to heal out there. Some of these are ancient systems, such as:
- TCM (Traditional Chinese Medicine)
- Meditation (there are many kinds)
- Qigong (especially medical qigong)
But if some of those are too physical there are other things.
- Essential Oils
But there are other modalities out there that are somewhat new, that are based on ancient modalities. Some are based on the eastern concept of chi/prana. They all accept that chi runs in the body and is present in all living things.
What’s interesting about these methods, is many of them have self help books. Some of these systems are:
- Emotion code/(body code if you train that far)
- Jin Shin Jyutsu
- Quantum Touch
For many of these, you should be able to find tons of self-teaching information online or self help books.
If you want to learn in depth about a healing method, you can get a certification and official training. Regardless, certification is the best way to learn the healing modality.
Alternative options to consider when typical treatments failAnother option is, if you’re like me, and you can’t afford to learn a modality, or a modality doesn’t entirely fit you, you can glean what you can from everything you learned from these modalities and put it all together.
Regardless of method, we must all find what works best for us and gets us on a healing path. Keep searching for a method until you find the one that fits you best and let the healing begin.
